i knew they were going to turn it into a WoW-wanna-be when the battle fields came out, but this just unsettles me.  some aspects i DO like: easier dodge, changing builds, blah blah blah.

but something like: slower attack speed, no dex-related cast reduction, and stuff like that irk the living hell out of me.

i liked RO because of its simplicity compared to WoW and because it was easier to just pick up and play. now looking at a shadow of Wow...im really scared and concerned...

You know, that sounds like a good idea. i probably should give the mechanics a fair shot before i speak without experience of the subject. But as to what i was saying about the similarities to WoW was they too have a battle system which the RO battle grounds seem to follow as well as a few other characteristics that gravity seems to be following.(as i have played wow for a few months, i quit because the dedication to such a game is...disgusting to me.) this doesnt seem like anything new and changing the format of the game just doesnt seem to be worth it. who is going to want to give up a character that took months (if not years to make), has spent money for subscriptions, and invested SO much time and resources only to come to a sprite/3rd background/korean miniature? it doesnt make sense to me. i know how i must sound (i admit im biased towards RO in gameplay) but why copy something if you are going to be compared to something that out classes you in that field? why not trying something unique (even if it is unorthodox).

They are rebalancing gameplay to allow game progression god damn it, that's the only point of renewal.

Before Renewal, a Triple Bloody Boned Composite Bow would be one of the best weapons for hunters PvP, with renewal mechanics, a Bloody Balista is ten times better than it. Cards would be so strong that people would pick only old quad slotted weapon to play, that made it hard to the developers to make equips who would beat them, so they added that.The ASPD nerf is basically canceled by 90+ AGI or new weapons/equips who have some bonus regarding ASPD. Casting Nerf is due to everyone being able to Instant Cast and hit like a truck on fire, but the cast is still pretty fast on Bragi + Sacrament(-50% Cast Time) + Suffragium. There is even instant spellbooks to make wizards still dangerous alone.

but in all seriousness, im only speculating. i mean look at the similarities. i didnt say they are, im just saying it looks like it and thats all. i will give it a try just like you said, i dont plan on being someone that just speaks with inexperienced words. thank you =D

XileRo is the only HR I know that has a reasonable PvP system. I did watch the RWC like you said, all I see is people spamming the room like every other gang fight there is in RO.

I tested it out... do not want...some aspects such as the str/agi/vit going to def. and stuff is ok.
but the leveling mechanics...do not like ONE bit. though its probably still too early to make my decision, i still say its a water'd down WoW. until something new comes out or it is tweaked ill just have to keep that opinion.

I changed my mind. I was mildly optimistic before, but now it's time for another rant, creatively named...

RENEWAL SUCKS AND IT SUCKS FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS:

* Scaling up, not down:

Would you agree that monsters in original weren't strong enough? If you would, you're f*** crazy. 190 ASPD, Earthquake, 9999 Heal, Power Up, player skills, unique skills... do we really need even stronger s***? f*** no we don't. Every time new 3rd class comes out people look at the skills and go "WTF that's super imba". If you really have to make "place" for 3rd classes(see below), scale all the other classes DOWN, not entire system UP. bLevel 30~40 second job, blevel ~80 third job? Why not? Just adjust the XP.

* Third jobs vs. Trans:

Many people b**** about trans system, but I think it's a good idea. It gives players another endgame, and more importantly, it's one of the very few things that actually FIT in the RO universe. Except now we have 3rd jobs which roll all over it. Ooops! Suddenly becoming a f*** transcendental warrior of doom isn't the best s***, because 3rd jobbers take in anyone. And, of course, 3rd class skills absolutely rape trans, the only bonus is the +25% HP/SP. Is this supposed to make sense?


* Your new XP doesn't make any sense:

Seriously. What is the POINT of making the new XP system? What is the POINT of all the time spent re-balancing and re-adjusting all monsters and XP tables? It's one of the many "change for the sake of change" things in Renewal. Guess what, you still kill mobs, gain levels then move to stronger mobs. You still can't level efficiently at high levels without specialist equipment. Oh yeah, now at least some bizzaro Archer can't level up by plimking Kahos in Thors one death at a time. Whoop dee f*** doo, you could simply hard-code "no XP gained if enemy is more than 10 levels over you" in TEN MINUTES.

* Your new stat system is s***:

This is a very simple, very overlooked, and very far-reaching thing. Fortunately it's also very easy to explain. Observe:

Pre-renewal mechanics: 99/99/25/1/1/1.
Renewal mechanics: 120/120/100/50/1/1.

The problem is pretty obvious. There's simply TOO MANY STAT POINTS. In pre-renewal terms, the above stat distribution would be something like 99/99/80/30/1/1. Can you imagine how BROKEN the game would be if you had so many stat points to allocate?

Now you might say, "A-ha, Anti-Static Foam Cleaner, you handsome stud! But in Renewal, stats have different effects alltogether!". And you would be right, especially about the handsome stud part.

But see, this is where the punchline comes in. In Renewal, all offensive stats are USELESS.

Yep, you heard right. Proof? But of course.
STR/DEX(for ranged): 1.2 attack per point. 120 STR, pretty much a req for all melee classes? 144ATK. No other bonuses. That's ALL you get.
INT: A little better, 1.5 mATK per point. 105INT? 157mATK. Again, that's ALL you get from your stats.

Equipment was unchanged. So most of your hurting power now comes from equipment.

So, the bottom line is:
Not only you have TWICE AS MUCH stat points as before, now you also DON'T NEED TO PRIORITIZE YOUR OFFENSIVE STATS AT ALL. This is less drastic with INT, since it gives you most bang for your buck and is also used to decrease cast time, but STR/DEX? Dump stats. As a melee class max AGI and DEX for aspd, 80 probably to VIT, and finally 50 to STR for pot-carrying power. As a Ranger, well... get Luck or something. It rules now.

* WoW is a piece of s***:

It is. So keep your f*** mounts, quest indicators, instances, no hard def, and other dumbed down s*** for retards out of my hardcore korean grindfest. Next thing, mobs will probably start f*** dropping Zeny. Then I will send an e-mail to Gravity, and the message will be f*** you".

Wow....

I try not to judge before trying it out myself, but this one seems f*cked up.
The extreme number of stat points means pretty much everyone will max out their vit. Geez...screws up pretty much every less populated private server, it's gonna be empbreaker races since you'd need to literally mob someome to kill him.
On a first glance, ATK values seem low. And if I recall correctly, % stuff will now affect only weapon atk right? Sucks...

Looking at it, my first guess is that Gravity is trying to bring down private servers by balancing the game for mobfests....

<br f*** third classes. Make 2-3 classes(And even 2-4 maybe?) instead, and trans versions of them. Remember people, scale down, down, down. Don't be afraid to move skills around: Maybe leave Monks with "spirit" skills(TSS, Asura, Snap, Root, etc.) and make Suras combo-oriented? Yes, that limits flexibility within a class, but now there's more of 'em so it doesn't really matter. Also there are all the new skills, you just need to tone them down.

That's actually more hilarity: all cards now affect only the base attack values, not skills. So let's say you level 10 Bash(400% damage) someone, and your weapon does +50% damage by cards(No such cards of course, but easier to calculate).

Normally, you'd do 600% damage:

ATK x 4 x 1.5 = 6

In Renewal, only the base ATK value is increased, so you're doing... 450% damage:

ATK x1.5 + ATK x 3 = 4.5

Bizzare? As usual, there's more. The same applies to... defensive cards. So in Renewal when GX hits you with 3200% SB, your Cranial will make it... 3170%. You're actually better off with a goddamn AMBERNITE card(+2 def) in your shield.
