Hello, I am the co-owner of SynergyRO and got reports from out players that some one stole our sever. so i installed theres too see for my self, and to find out there server is the exact same as out server..they stole our data folder and made there server with it same customs,npc were in the same spots, every thing was the same. there are more reports that they have the impassable room wich the owner of out server made and has not relesed it.. but i have not found it on there server, its comeing from players that have looked around, Also they too out quote at the top of our fourms
"the only server you will need"
and they put it on there rms thing,
its relly low to steel a server and say its you own. our server was posted on rms over 3 months befor theres

why would people do that? look at this ... same problem on my server http://www.ratemyserver.net/forum/server-hall-of-shame/forgotten-ro/0/ only thing is I'm not a GM admin or anything just a player ... do you think the person that did that was just a banned player from your server? but at least they didn't completely copy you ... the rates aren't the same

Ehh, yeah. Stuff like that is pretty despicable.

With our server, as well, though, they changed a few things around (main town, positions of NPCs, etc) to make it seem like it was theirs as well.  I don't think these people realize though that whether you change stuff around, stealing is stealing. I despise thieves with a passion, but unfortunately, there's nothing we can do about it, and they know that, which is why they do it. =\ Another thing, though. True, the owners of the servers the do it (the thieves) may be bad, but the players, who see things like this, and see proof of it being done, still play, which in my own opinion, is just as bad as stealing. I would never be caught dead actually playing on a server based off of theft. People who jack stuff from other servers, or anything, really, to try and make something of their own (when it isn't really their own at all, just a cheap copy), especially when it's things that others spent precious time and hard work on are either lazy, bored, ignorant, or honestly just that idiotic.

So, I would love to help but there is nothing that I could do in this issue.  RMS is not here to judge who is right and who is wrong.  It is best that the parties involved can sit down and talk the way out.

ya, i know but the funny thing is
they took like 4-6 of our players...the next day they were all back
and pissed off at the other server
and now we still have a growing population.

The same with ours. However, it wasn't just random member jacking, mind you. Most of the people who left our server for theirs were banned members, or members who always started trouble.

Honestly sorry that it's happening to you. It's a damn shame to see people take others hard work. =\

What surprises me is that you guys seem to think it's that easy to steal. Sure the .GRF is there, but since it's there it allows anyone to use it. I personally started learning by taking apart PulseRO's GRF (Now dead), however, I managed to make a better server than them.

NPC's in-game are not obtainable at all! Unless the server owner releases his/her scripts to the public.

Now, I've got 1 question. If you believe you're doing a good job, why do you care about the people who copy you? It's like this... A Louis Vuitton Bag copied by a guy who makes fake Louis Vuitton Bags... Louis Vuitton knows their quality is higher than the other guy, so they don't worry. So instead of pointing fingers and saying this guy copied me, in a 1st grade manner... you could step up to the plate and do something the other guy can't. Something original, something better, you know?

We never said it was that easy to steal, simply that people do it, and call it their own work.

Also, Edward, while this is true, that doesn't change the fact that it's upsetting to see your own hard work stolen, used and exploited. I can fully understand where you're coming from, but one thing you have to remember is that people think of/react to everything in different ways. Also, about the NPCs, they aren't obtainable, but they can be copied. (i.e. They log-in, they check your NPCs, what they contain, what they sell/what they say, what items are being sold, how much the items are being sold, etc, and easily do exactly what you did.)

Of course it's upsetting... but what's to complain about =\? The more you complain, the more time you're wasting. There's nothing that can be done, it's better if you make your work so extremely unique that they cannot copy it. That's what I do =).
