heRO is first and foremost dedicated to being a fun and unique place to play Ragnarok Online. Our goal is to make it challenging and entertaining for both casual and hardcore players alike, there's always something interesting to do! We've been open for nearly 4 years with an ever growing population. We're ready to keep going a long time, with more unique features and fun new stuff as time goes ^_^

What makes heRO special...

heRO has numerous customizations to make it such a fun place to play at, however we always keep balance in mind and try our best to preserve the delicate balance that is RO. Players are welcomed to voice their opinions & suggestions, be it in game or forums, and they are our most severe critics when it comes to balancing ^_^

• Light VS Dark Allegiance System
  Our exclusive Allegiance system allows you to join a side, Light or Dark (unless you prefer Neutral). Once you joined you can complete specific quests to earn Allegiance Points, those points are required to participate in an exclusive monthly event called Trials of Heroes where you can compete to earn heroic gears. The points are also required to wear a specific Light/Dark clothing palette, enter a custom dungeons for heroes, and other quests. By having an Allegiance you also get bonus if your side wins the monthly Mass Battle, and you can participate in other special events. Our server's storyline is based on this system and progresses with you as the characters.

• Custom Gears
  We have a wide variety of custom helms and wings (they take Armor + Lower Head slot) and they are not "donation" items, they are available to everyone equally. Some gears are available with our fun quests, unique to heRO (we script them ourselves), some selective gears are obtained in events and headgears that resemble monsters will usually drop from said monster (Garm Helm from Garm, Hyegun Hat from Hyegun, etc.) ^_^
  
  
  Just a sample of our most popular quests for gears:
  
  
  ~ Baby Wings: Made entirely in the training ground! But don't be fooled because a novice can make them, the quest is still hard and requires wits and efforts! Cute fluttery white wings for Light heroes and black demonic little wings for Dark heroes.
  
  ~ Elemental Wings: One of each of the 4 magical elements, grants the wearer power from fire, water, wind or earth. Each is made by an elementalist lady, which are hidden deep in dungeons where their elements are the strongest.
  
  ~ Zodiac Quest: 12 Seals (mini-quest) to unlock to open the pathway to the Timeless room where the Zodiac Master can craft a pair of special Zodiac Wings!
  
  ~ Blessed/Cursed helms: Made by the legendary blacksmith Balian with the help of his friends scattered over the kingdom, a challenging quest only for true Light/Dark heroes!
  
  
  ~ Hatter Quest: A strange French Hat Maker in Rachel, if you play his 5 games he will reward you with 1 random hat that is not obtainable any other way. It's our way of allowing players to obtain all the questless gravity hats, as well as some of our custom ones, he also colors some hats. The Hatter was recently updated with the most recent Gravity gears such as Chick Hat, Pecopeco Band and Whisper Mask. In total 70+ official hats are available with this quest, and 30+ custom ones. • Balanced Donations
  We are grateful to our donators who help maintain the server and reward them with chance items such as Old Blue Box and Old Purple Box, and occasionally depending on the amount donated Old Card Album, Bloody Branch, Wrapped Mask, etc. However being a donator will not make you godly on our server and all those chance items are available in game also to anyone who is willing to work for them. You can't differentiate a donator from a non-donator in pvp/woe because it gives no significant advantage. More information on donation here.

• Challenging Fights

  We have PVP rooms with warpers in most major cities. In addition the command @duel is available, allowing players to spar anywhere provided they both agree to it (no pk). And of course we have WoE! 3 castles are open to keep the wars fun and the action packed!
  Amongst those there is 1 "Retro Castle" (aldebaran), which only allows pre-trans classes to enter, this means no reborn, no TK family, no ninja or gunner in this special castle. For those old-school WoEs with 2nd jobs, a nice place to war for newcomer and nostalgic veteran alike!

• Fishing System
  Get your rod and baits ready and find a suitable spot, then sit back and relax while fishing up some edible guppy, bass, trout, salmon, angel fish and even some mutant fish? If you're lucky you might also happen on some Dory/Nemo and even rare items floating in the water!
  
  
• Mining System
  Mine for various ores and stones, you might also be surprised what you'll find in the rock sometimes! The basic spot in Coal Mine and the advanced one in the Einbech Mine.
  
  
• Bulletin Board
  In need of an item no one is selling? No problem, enter a mission on the Bulletin Board and let someone fetch it for you! You pay ahead, specify which item and in what quantity you'd like, then just sit and relax, your mission will be up for 30 days, you can get a refund if no one completed it.
  Bored of leveling? Browse the mission and see if anyone is looking for something you could get for them, if the price they offer is worth it of course.

• Custom Monsters
  Are you strong enough to challenge Skoll the mighty beast of fire? If you think you are go pay him a visit in Magma Dun. You'll also find other new monsters such as Autumn Leaf Cats in Yuno field, cute little Snow Bunny in the Lutie area, Levia Lusca master of the ocean hidden deep in Bylan along with Eralia the lovely mermaid. Poring Island is the home to all the regular monsters of the poring family, in addition to the custom Sapling, Aquaring and the MVP God Poring.
  
  
• Custom Pets
  All our neutral pets drop their own tames and most of the time their own food as well. Succubus, Wild Rose, Galapago, Baby Garm, Teddy Bear, Siroma, Civil Servant, Snow Bunny, Aliot, Mavka, Solace and more! We also have some Allegiance Pets (Angeling & Observation for Light / Deviling & Retribution for Dark).
  
  
• Nobility System
  Selective heroes who proved their worth to King Tristan the Third can receive ennoblement and are henceforth referred to as Sir/Lady and wear their exclusive nobility forehead gem (middle gear) as proof of their exclusive status. Nobles get a few perks, such as a personalized event for their birthday, a more prominent place in roleplaying on the server, they can also suggest events and even quests!
  
  
• Orphanage
  Do you wish to become a baby but have no one to adopt you? Go to the Orphanage, with a level 1 novice you can turn into a baby class and Granny Kathy will take care of you as well as your fellow orphan brothers & sisters.
  
  
• Seasonal Quests & Events
  Most major holiday give us an occasion to celebrate! So far we've had unique in-depth custom quests for Christmas, Easter, Halloween and the server's birthday (in October), we also had event for each of those as well as New Year, Thanksgiving, St-Patrick, Valentine's Day and April Fool. To further enhance the seasonal spirit we got snowed maps during the winter, green Prontera in the summer and dark Prontera for Halloween.
  
  
• Fun, Unique and Frequent Events
  In addition to seasonal eventful moments, there are regular events being held on a frequent basis by the GMs. Lots of event for novice which are fair for everyone (novitrap plant maze, poring smash, bone collector, etc.), in addition to occasional PVP tournaments, Roleplay event like Werewolf or large story arc events and more!
  
  Furthermore, we got 3 recurring events:
  
  ~ Trials of Heroes (Monthly)
  Compete in 5 hard trials, try your best to score enough point to deserve a heroic gear! Monster fighting, PVP, Item gathering, Trivia and Mass Battle. Lots of fun, it's the most anticipated event every month and one of the most popular feature of our server!
  
  ~ Fairy Auction (Monthly)
  Once per month Pixie, the Queen of the fairies, comes to the human land to sell Fairy Wings and other exclusive items. Come prepared with lots of zeny to bid against other heroes!
  
  ~ Muspel Monday (Weekly)
  The gate opens for a few minute every monday, enter and challenge the creatures of Muspelheim, in the Muspel Hall you'll find Logi and other fire creatures in addition to the watchful Eye of Surtur which hold the items you need to proceed from there to the bridge where the Selkie ladies await you, if you defeat them you'll be challenged by 4 dragons and finally Surtur the Fire Lord. Unique monsters with unique rewards await you in Muspel!
  
  
• Stable Environment
  We've been opened for nearly 4 years and plan to stay active for a long time to come. We promise to never do any wipe and have held our word thus far, we value the hard work you put in the server. Having been opened for a long time means there are many trans characters already, but it also means lots of people to help newcomers get started, it means established economy and guilds, fun-filled wars and an experienced staff. We try to keep lag to a minimum and always strive to update our hardware to give you the best experience. We currently run on a very good machine (owned by the server), it could support 2k+ players with no problem, it's professionally hosted at a facility on one of their super high speed lines.
  
  
• Always Improving!
  
  There's always something happening on heRO and we're always working on future projects to make it even greater. Projects currently in development: Pandora's Box Quest, Baby Wars, Neutral stance allegiance with the Zen Helm quest, Challenge of the Trinity Knights, Silk Wings and more ^_^
  
  
• Good Staff
  Our GMs are honest, active and hard-working, each does their best to help the server in their own way, some are specialized in events while other are more behind-the-scene tech people. You need a GM and none is online? No problem, we have a Support Ticket system, fast answer guaranteed (Usually within 24 hours)!
  
  
• Nice Community
  Last but certainly not least, we have such a wonderful community, our joy and pride and what really makes heRO worth playing are the players themselves. If you need help, politely ask on @main and people will be glad to answer your questions and sometimes even assist you with leveling, but don't get lazy, our server is for heroes after all! Average population is ~350, our current record is 409 players (in July 2009).
